Cooking with Diamonds! (Swiss Diamond Cookware Giveaway

Both Heather and I (Tricia) had the privilege of trying out and now owning some new cookware and we both couldn’t wait to tell you more about it! If you are hoping for some new cookware this holiday season you have to check out Swiss Diamond!

(Heather) The most expensive set of cookware I’ve ever owned was a wedding gift from my grandparents over 15 years ago. I didn’t take care of them like I should have, and had to replace them sooner than I was hoping. I’ve had a few sets of fairly inexpensive ones since then, and was just thinking the other day that a new set would probably get the #1 spot on my Christmas list this year. So, I was thrilled to review a saute pan from Swiss Diamond.

I was given the wonderful opportunity to cook with a 4.3 quart saute pan, and Tricia chose to review a 5 quart square casserole. This saute pan is much larger than any  I’ve ever owned (which has always been the standard size that comes in a cookware set). I chose this type of pan because I find that my saute pan is the most used of all my cookware, whether it’s used to brown ground beef for spaghetti sauce, or all-in-one skillet meals, such as Aloha Pork Chops.   I chose to christen my new saute pan with pumpkin risotto. The first thing I noticed was how heavy it was. I turned up the heat to medium and began to saute the vegetables, and then moved onto the rice and stock. I was delighted to see how evenly this pan heated. My current pans do not heat evenly at all, and in fact are a bit warped. I love the glass see-through lids, so I can check on what I’m cooking without even having to lift the lid.

Swiss Diamond Cookware is precision cast aluminum, and made in Switzerland. It’s non-stick coating is integrated with diamond crystals which forms a virtually indestructible surface that will not blister, peel or crack.  Diamonds are the hardest natural material which helps the coating resist damage and they are naturally nonstick reducing the need for chemical nonstick agents, and they conduct heat better than any metal to allow food to brown in the pan and create a fond that can be used for gravy. This browning ability sets Swiss Diamond apart from other nonstick cookware. The use of diamonds in this cookware allows for a high degree of thermal conductivity, therefore high heat is never required. Although I didn’t put mine in the oven, the Swiss Diamond Cookware is oven safe up to 500 degrees F.

(Tricia) I too was fortunate enough to receive a Swiss Diamond Non-stick Square Casserole and it was nothing short of amazing! I have been wanting a piece of cookware that I could use both on the stovetop and in the oven. You know, because freezer cooking creates enough dishes without dirtying multiple pans. I tried it out the first time when I was reviewing the Not Your Mother’s Make Ahead and Freezer cookbook. Remember that Shepherd’s Pie? Yea, it gets cooked in a pan, then transferred into a casserole dish, potatoes added and then put into the oven. No extra casserole dish for me! I just added the potatoes to the top and stuck it in the oven for the final stages. It was amazing! This pan is also very large – perfect for your Once A Month Mom cooking days as you can saute quite a bit in it without making a huge mess of the stove. I am definitely in love.

As for caring for the Swiss Diamond Cookware? It is simple: the cookware should not be used over high heat, it should be thoroughly cleaned with hot soapy water after each use and food should not cut be or chopped in the pan. Full guidelines: http://www.swissdiamond.us/use-and-care-15.html. And guess what? Swiss Diamond has agreed to provide one lucky Once A Month Mom reader with the same 4.3 quart sauce pan that Heather has. It is perfect for your Once A Month Mom cooking days and you will be in love. I promise. 🙂 Here is how you enter to win: Leave a Comment telling me which (Swiss) Diamonds you will would most love to be on your holiday list? 1. I poked around the Swiss Diamond website. After looking at all the pans I think I would like a 12.5″ fry pan best. It’s probably my most used pan when I’m cooking for the whole family and mine is starting to peel.

  2. I use my saute pan more than anything else, but I just replaced my old one, so I would have to choose the nonstick square casserole!

  3. I checked out the site and the 4.3 quart sauce pan would be my choice anyway. It would be perfect for pan sauces and soups as well as provide a good non-stick pan for breakfast dishes.

  4. I recently added Diamond Swiss’s 11 inch Non-stick Wok to my Holiday list! I am currently an AmeriCorps volunteer full-time but my dad told me he would try and get me some new kitchen items! A wok is something I have always wanted but never had money to splurge on!

  5. I would LOVE to have the square 5qt. casserole. There are many things that come to mind when I think of cooking in this. I truly believe it would be a go-to. I love also, that it can be used on gas, which comes in handy when the electric goes out!

  6. The 4.3oz nonstick sauté pan is what I’ve got me eye on! I’ve been searching for years for a sauté pan that’s oven safe that doesn’t cost a small fortune!

  8. I would love any new pan as my current pots and pans are in dire need of replacement. Seriously, my pans are so bad I know all their burn spots like they have a personality! You would be doing me a solid! 🙂

  9. If I could have any of them, the 12.5 inch saute pan would definitely be my pick. Almost all my cooking is done in saute pans, and the ones I have are all pretty small.

  10. The 8.5 quart Stock Pot would thrill me ! I like to cook in large batches even though it is only my hubby and me. Always nice to have extras to put in the freezer. Also recently. Started baking the 5 minute No Knead Bread. This would be perfect !

  12. Nonstick Stock Pot – 8.5 qt (11 in.) I have a big family and I’d use it for soup, stew, and chili, and I’d also use it for small-batch canning.

  13. Well – for me it would be the Nonstick Saute Pan with Lid, Stainless Steel Handle – 5.8 qt (12.5 in.). It is what I cook with the most, but my handle is breaking and the lid no longer fits correctly 🙁 Would love one of these!!!

  14. I’m in love with the Nonstick Square Grill Saute Pan – I have yet to add a grill pan to my arsenal, and theirs looks fabulous!

  21. I would be thrilled to have any one of the pieces, but thinkn I would get a lot of good out of the casserole pan! Thanks!

  22. It’s so hard to choose! I’d love a saute pan with a lid. I’ve gone through so many of the basic non-stick ones. I really want one that will last. And if I can put it in the oven to – WOW!!!

  23. I would like the square fry pan since I don not have one, but the sauce pan that is being given away would be my most used pan.

  24. I would love to try the 4.3 qt saute pan! At the very top of my wish list would be the biggest saute pan (5 qt) As my boys get older it feels like my pans are getting smaller-they eat so much I have to cook in batches!

  25. The 12.5″ Swiss Diamond fry pan would be my favorite addition to my kitchen arsenal. It would replace my very worn and very unhealthy teflon lined skillet.

  26. The 4.3 saute pan would be my top pick. All of the items would be useful, but the saute pan would be the most versatile with the kind of cooking I do. Thanks for the opportunity!

  27. The cookware looks fantastic. I m in need of replacing fry pans! I like the 11″ nonstick pan with lid for its versatility 🙂 my fingers are crossed!

  28. I think the 3.8 saute pan would make a great Christmas Gift or one of the woks. There are so many nice looking products I don’t know how to choose.

  29. Definitely the square casserole pan. I think that would possibly be the most used pan if it were in my kitchen. So many possibilities. I may be adding that to my Christmas wish list!

  30. I would love the 5.5 qt soup pot. The size works well for all the soups/chilis/stews that I love to cook. Looks like it would be a great multi use and a welcome dutch oven as well.

  31. The 5qt square casserole would be heaven. The only stove to oven pan I have, the cover broke a few years ago and I miss the convenience.

  32. I cant choose! Id love the casserole dish OR the saute pan! Both look great and Im sure they will be well used in my monthly cooking sprees! the saute pan would certainly get used daily as my boys are eating quesadillas DAILY for school! Love your blog/ newsletters!

  33. Oh no! Just when I’ve been teaching the 10 commandments to my Club 56 at Sunday School (5th-6th graders) here I am coveting all over the place. these look fabulous, thanks for bringing them to light! I think I would start with the 12.5″ fry pan WITH lid, because I never have a giant fryer with lid…although that 4.3 sauté looks great too….hmmm…well, maybe if I win one, then I could ask for the other for Christmas!!

  34. I want them all!! but, I admit I use my large fry pan the most for sauteing, browning, making rice, etc. so probably the large 10 inch fry pan!

  35. I would love the Nonstick Square Saute Pan with Lid – 5 qt. I’ve been trying to find the right cookware for our family.

  37. O-Boy 0-Boy could I make some Scrump-dilly-icious meals using some of the recipes you post in the saute pan!! Absolutely Wonderful idea for my holiday list. Thank you.

  38. I would love the 12.5′ fry pan looks excellent to cook great southern fried chicken in large enough and deep enough, and that would mean one skillet instead of using 2 when cooking chicken and cooking other meats for my family this pan is a nice big size

  39. I would also love the 4.3 quart saute pan. My current pan has been used so much it is no longer nonstick. I am always hesitant to buy a full set until I try one or two pans out, so this would be perfect!

  40. I need the saute pan. Mine is on it’s last legs and another one is just so expensive. I’ve tried the cheap ones before and they just aren’t worth it.
