Welcome to April!

**This post is part of the Get Real series. Please remember that this is meant as a learning community. We know that many of you are passionate about what you do and we want you to express that, just please do so in a way that will be an encouragement and aid to others making a transition. We want this to be a “safe space” for participants to learn. For that reason, we reserve the right to delete any comments that are not handled in this manner.

Now that we’ve settled from the excitement of menu day, we can catch another wave of excitement with a new month in the Get Real Series! I’d like to take a moment to thank our guest blogger for March, Kristen of Dine and Dish for providing us with a delicious start to making our own egg noodles, which were our base for raviolis. We helped you de-code the boxes at the store. Then ended with mouth watering gnocchi.

Did you have fun with the pasta month? Now the fun begins. That groundhog had sunglasses on in February because instead of six more weeks of winter, here in Colorado we’ve jumped right into summer! Perfect weather for this month’s challenge: vegetables and fruit. We will cover the following topics:

  • The dirty dozen and clean fifteen
  • Shopping for produce in the store and local farmer’s markets
  • Joining a CSA or coop
  • And growing your own produce!
Partnering with us this month is Rachel Tayse from Harmonious Homestead. If you follow her blog already, you know she is an avid gardener and has tips for even the most novice gardener like me to have a successful garden.
If you are new to our challenge, please start by pledging your commitment to join us for this month and the rest of the year! Head over to our Facebook Fan Page and click on the Get Pledged app on the left hand side. If you have already pledged, you will be receiving an email with information on re-pledging (with minimal information to fill out) for April. We are taking this series seriously and are helping you keep track of where you have been and where you are going!
Remember by taking the simple pledge to Get Real, you are entered to win great prizes from our sponsors and guest bloggers!
You’ve done so great so far, and things are only going to get better and more fun as we start into spring!
