Recipes for Memorial Day

Here is a round up of grill recipes and ideas that are guaranteed crowd pleasers! They can all be made ahead and frozen too, just in case you don’t want to do any work this weekend and want to kick back, relax with the family, and have the cooking done!

Appetizers

1. Guacamole – Yes, I know this says more “Cinco de Mayo” than “Memorial Day” but it really is a tasty and easy appetizer to have around. If you decide to freeze it or make it ahead make sure you save the avocado pits and leave them in and seal it tight so it is less likely to turn brown. I would recommend waiting until the last minute to whip this one up since it is so easy to do.

Side Dishes

2. Easy Garlic Bread -Instead of throwing this in the oven, try it on the grill. I am certain that you will like the results equally as well. I would recommend grilling it in the foil wrap so that it doesn’t fall apart into your grill.

3. OAMM Baked Beans – and while you are at it, go ahead and whip up a batch (or 1/2 batch) of Amy’s Finer Things Baked Beans with a Kick and enter the Van Camp’s Baked Bean Showdown. It is easy to do and you might just come out of the whole thing $50 richer!

4. Special Potatoes – These are never around for very long when I make them for a crowd. I usually have to double the recipe if I am serving more than 4 people. They are just that good!

5. Freezer Coleslaw – What is a picnic without coleslaw? And with cabbage coming into season around the country, you are likely to find great prices on making this tasty dish. And yes, it can even be premade and frozen. And no worries, if you follow the instructions it really will still be crunchy!

Main Dishes

6. Italian Flank Steak Pinwheels – Don’t let the title fool you, these will fit in perfectly at your All-American barbecue!Tomato & Basil Hamburgers – Oh, these are SOOO delicious. We are definitely fixing these for this weekend. I am salivating just writing about them again. YUM!

7. Buffalo Bleu Burgers – These are also a yummy treat for the grill and your palette. They have a bit of a kick to them but they are the perfect burger for a Memorial Day barbecue.

8. Cheddar Butter Burgers – This is a recipe my husband came up with last summer that we continue to love!

9. Tomato Basil Hamburgers – I know this is three burger recipes, but you KNOW you want to grill this weekend! 🙂 These are my NEW favorite recipe. I am salivating just writing this post. YUM!

Dessert

10. Caramel Apple Pie Trifle – This is an amazingly rich and tasty dessert. Your guests will keep coming back for more! It is scoopable apple pie in a bowl. I love this dish at parties and cook-outs because it is like having a jazzed up version of a pie. Like your pie wanted to get all dressed up and join the party! 🙂 This post is linked up to:
