I know many of you do it and perhaps even swear by it, but it just isn’t for me. However, I have seen several posts about how others use their food processors to grind up the bread or day old bread into breadcrumbs for later use. You can then freeze that in a freezer bag and store them for later. If you are wanting to use less processed foods in your diet and more of your own homemade goods, making your own breadcrumbs is most definitely an option as well. But how many cups of breadcrumbs can you expect to yield from the average size loaf of bread, hamburger buns, or hot dog buns? Good question! I went to work on my bread to come up with some answers for you. Here are my results:
So next time you go to the pantry and are without the needed breadcrumbs or you have some bread a little past its prime, you know what to do and how much you are going to need!
