Though we think the list of benefits is endless, we’re going to start off with six that we feel are pretty easy.

  1. Reduce Stress – When you prep ahead you eliminate the last-minute rush and frantic scrambling in the kitchen. You eliminate the chaos of forgotten ingredients, messed up serving sizes and trying to coordinate bumping up the oven temp to accommodate all of the different dishes that you are making.
  2. Save Time – Preparing certain dishes ahead of time means you won’t have to spend hours in the kitchen on Thanksgiving day.  By doing a little bit here and a little bit there you can actually bank your time away and save a bundle to enjoy on the actual holiday!
  3. Enhance Flavors – Certain dishes tend to taste better when they’ve had time to meld and develop flavors. Preparing them ahead of time give more time to develop these! Marinating meats, preparing sauces, or even making pie fillings in advance gives the ingredients time to infuse and intensify their flavors, resulting in more delicious and flavorful dishes.
  4. Maximize Efficiency – Prepping ahead of time allows you to utilize your time more efficiently. You can multitask by preparing several dishes simultaneously  or using cooking techniques that require less supervision, such as a slow cooker or Instant Pot.
  5. Better Time Management –  Prepping ahead of time provides you with a clearer picture of what needs to be done and when. By creating a timeline and breaking down tasks, you can better manage your time and ensure that everything is ready when it needs to be.
  6. Spend Quality Time With Loved Ones – By prepping ahead, you’ll have more time to spend with your family and friends on Thanksgiving Day. Instead of being tied to the kitchen, you can engage in conversations, play games, or simply relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Remember, prepping Thanksgiving dishes ahead doesn’t mean sacrificing taste or quality. With careful planning, you can have a delicious and stress-free holiday. So, get a head start, prepare your dishes in advance, and savor every moment of this special day with your loved ones.
